Placing a full order

To help us provide a consistent service please give as much advance notification of your order as possible.

You will be asked to provide the information detailed on our Order Checklist. This provides us with essential information prior to manufacture.

You will be requestede to supply a drawing of the worksurface design, even if we are manufacturing to template. This allows us to check that all parts of the design have been considered and minimises delays in the approval process.

We will create a drawing, order confirmation and copy of the checklist information for you to check, sign and return to us. Where a template is involved, this will be supplied within a day of receipt of template. For other orders, supplied against drawing, this will happen upon receipt of order. Signed approval of these documents is required before manufacture will begin.

Templates

This service is currently only available for stone worksurfaces. Please view our installation checklist.

As much advance notice of your order as possible is always helpful to ensure we offer a consistent service.

Upon receipt of your order we will call to arrange a convenient time for our templater to visit. You will be asked to provide the information requested on our Pre-Order Checklist. We also ask that you supply a sketch of the worksurface design. This allows us to check that all parts of the design have been considered.

It is essential that the installation of all carcases and the free standing appliances are fixed and secured before the templater’s visit. Sinks and appliances to be fitted to the worktop must be available on site. Our designer will request these details beforehand.

We also request the client’s or site representative’s mobile telephone number and details. These will be used to send an SMS message to confirm the appointment and to facilitate contact on the day. Our team will ring the day before the visit to make a final check of the arrangements.

The template will be made by our team and returned to our factory. We will create a drawing and order confirmation for checking and approval. This will usually take one day. Details may be checked with you by telephone.

Upon receipt of your signed order confirmation, and subject to credit status, the order will go straight into production. At that time we will agree a convenient installation date, normally within 10 working days of the template. As with the template visit, our team will ring the day before the installation to make a final check of the arrangements.

Template and fit checklist

This service is currently only available for stone worksurfaces. We ask that you prepare the site as described below. Aborted site visits will be charged at the normal T&I rates.

  • Carcass and free standing appliance fitting must be completed prior to template and installation. Take care that carcase legs are correctly adjusted to support the additional worktop weight.
  • Any item to be fitted to the worktop, for example sinks, taps and hobs, are required on site during template and installation. We do not connect appliances or plumbing.
  • All temporary surfaces and appliances must be removed and the area free of obstruction. No additional furniture or fittings should be added after templating.
  • Tiling must not be started prior to the template and installation of the worktop.
  • Access to the site is a limiting factor to the size and weight of the finished pieces. Winding staircases or sharp corners can be a problem when carrying heavy pieces of stone. The use of a service lift or a crane may be necessary (for example when installing in flats).
  • Sink and appliance model codes are required prior to template
  • Stone worktops are delicate and brittle if not correctly supported. Distances of over 600 mm should be bridged with supports. Flying tops should not exceed 300mm.
  • The kitchen and appliances must not be disturbed or changed between templating and installation.
  • Cutouts will be part factory fabricated with a retained central strengthening bar. This bar will be removed by the fitter after the worktop is finally positioned. This is to reduce the chance of worktop breakage during shipping and installation. Our fitting teams will make every effort to limit noise and dust from the final cut.
  • In some instances it is necessary to cut into the plaster wall to facilitate the fitting of the worktop. Our fitting teams will make every effort to limit damage to the wall and dust from the cut. The wall will be made good upon fitting.
  • The narrow rails created when cutouts are formed will be supported by GRP or steel strengthening rods. These are glued in place in slots on the underside of the worktop. In the event of the stone breaking, these bars reduce the risk of the worktop falling apart and causing injury or damage.
  • Granite Worksurfaces

    Estimates

Upon receipt of your worktop enquiry we will email or fax confirmation of receipt. If you do not receive our acknowledgement within 30 minutes or so, please contact our office.

We aim to respond to your enquiry within one day. A designated designer will personally handle your account. Alternatively, if you need an urgent guide-price, please download our Quick Estimate tool for stone worktops.

The materials are arranged into price groups (note – price groups are not indicated in the new Worksurfaces brochure). Please go to our timber or stone materials pages for more information.

Worktops are drawn using our standard design practice. We are happy to offer alternative materials, joints and manufacturing techniques upon request. This may increase time taken for the estimate to be completed.

All estimates are subject to our terms and conditions of purchase. In addition you should view our pricing information page for carriage charges, minimum order values etc.
